Who directed God of War (2018)?

Cory Barlog directed God of War (2018), the PlayStation 4 revival of Santa Monica Studio’s action-adventure series.

Barlog had previously worked on God of War II as its game director, making his return especially significant. The 2018 game changed the series’ setting from ancient Greece to Norse mythology and presented the story through a continuous camera shot.

The director is sometimes confused with Eric Williams, who directed God of War Ragnarök, or David Jaffe, the director of the original 2005 game. Barlog also served as creative director on Ragnarök, but he was not that game’s director.

God of War (2018) follows Kratos and his son Atreus as they attempt to scatter the ashes of Faye from the highest peak in the realms. Its direction helped establish the series’ more intimate storytelling style.
