Who developed DJ Hero?

FreeStyleGames developed DJ Hero.

The British studio was a specialist in music games before making the Guitar Hero spin-off. Activision acquired FreeStyleGames in 2008, and the developer was then assigned to create a new music title built around DJ performance rather than guitar play. That project became DJ Hero, released in 2009.

FreeStyleGames designed the game around turntablism, with players scratching, crossfading, triggering samples, and mixing two recorded songs. The studio worked with DJs and producers to create the game’s mixes, while artists including DJ Shadow, Z-Trip, DJ AM, Grandmaster Flash, and DJ Jazzy Jeff contributed to the soundtrack or playable content.

Activision published the finished game worldwide. Exient Entertainment handled the PlayStation 2 and Wii versions, but that does not change the principal developer answer: FreeStyleGames is the studio credited with developing DJ Hero. Beenox, Harmonix, and Neversoft were involved with other music or Guitar Hero-related projects, which makes them plausible but incorrect choices here.
