Who designed the daisy-shaped Chupa Chups logo after being asked to refresh the brand in 1969?

The story behind the answer

Salvador Dalí designed the daisy-shaped Chupa Chups logo in 1969.

Chupa Chups founder Enric Bernat asked Dalí to create a more distinctive design for the lollipop brand. Dalí reportedly completed the concept quickly, adapting the brand name into a bright, flower-like arrangement of red lettering on a yellow background.

A key practical detail was Dalí’s suggestion that the logo be placed on the top of the wrapper rather than around its side. That placement made the branding easier to see when the lollipop was displayed or held. The design became one of the best-known examples of a famous artist working on a commercial logo.

The logo is often confused with a general pop-art design, but its connection is specifically to Dalí. Chupa Chups itself began in Spain in 1958, and the name comes from the Spanish verb “chupar,” meaning “to suck.”
