Who designed the American Revolution Bicentennial logo used for the 1976 celebration?

The story behind the answer

Bruce N. Blackburn designed the American Revolution Bicentennial logo used for the 1976 celebration.

Blackburn was an American graphic designer best known for designing NASA's modernized logotype and the Bicentennial star. The Bicentennial mark placed a white five-point star inside a stylized red, white, and blue star, surrounded by the words “American Revolution Bicentennial 1776–1976.”

The logo appeared on government facilities, official souvenirs, and United States postage stamps. NASA also painted it on the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center during the Bicentennial year, where it remained until 1998.

A common mix-up is to attribute the design to NASA because Blackburn also worked on NASA identity materials. The Bicentennial star and NASA's famous worm logotype were separate projects, although both were associated with Blackburn's professional career in graphic design.
