Who designed Dior’s Book Tote, first introduced in 2018?
Answer
Maria Grazia Chiuri
Answer
Maria Grazia Chiuri
Maria Grazia Chiuri designed Dior’s Book Tote, first introduced in 2018.
Chiuri became Dior’s artistic director in 2016 and introduced the Book Tote as one of her early signature accessories. The spacious rectangular bag was designed to carry books and everyday belongings, while its embroidered surface displayed Dior lettering and elaborate decorative scenes.
The original versions were made in Dior’s Toile de Jouy style, a fabric tradition featuring pastoral or narrative imagery. Later editions used patterns inspired by different cultures, locations and Dior house symbols. The bag’s structured shape and highly recognizable embroidery helped turn it into a major contemporary Dior accessory.
The Book Tote should not be confused with the Saddle bag, which debuted in 1999, or Lady Dior, the quilted handbag associated with Princess Diana.
