Who created the American medical drama series House M.D.?

The story behind the answer

David Shore created the American medical drama series House M.D.

Shore developed the series with executive producers Katie Jacobs and Paul Attanasio. The program premiered on Fox in November 2004 and follows Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant but unconventional diagnostician at a fictional New Jersey teaching hospital.

The central character was partly inspired by Sherlock Holmes. Both characters are exceptionally observant, live near 221B Baker Street or a comparable address in their stories, and rely on an unusual confidant: Dr. James Wilson parallels Dr. John Watson. House also shares Holmes’s talent for solving difficult cases through deduction.

David Shore remained one of the series’ key creative figures throughout its eight-season run. He wrote or co-wrote numerous episodes and served as showrunner. The series became one of Fox’s most internationally recognized scripted programs, combining episodic medical mysteries with long-running character stories.
