David Shore created House M.D., the medical drama centered on diagnostician Gregory House.
Shore developed the series for Fox with executive producer Katie Jacobs and director Bryan Singer. The concept reworked the traditional doctor show into a medical detective story, with each episode often presenting a baffling illness that required a team to identify its cause.
The character of House was partly inspired by Sherlock Holmes. That influence appears in the doctor’s deductive methods, his disregard for social convention, and the use of Dr. James Wilson as a counterpart resembling Holmes’s friend Dr. Watson.
David Shore remained closely associated with the show throughout its eight-season run. Aaron Sorkin, David E. Kelley, and Shonda Rhimes are also prominent television creators, but they did not create House M.D.
