Who created Bitcoin? Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin.

Nakamoto is the pseudonym used by the person or group that designed Bitcoin, wrote its 2008 white paper, and released the original software. The white paper, titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” described a peer-to-peer electronic-cash system that could operate without a central authority.

Nakamoto registered bitcoin.org in August 2008 and published the white paper in October. In January 2009, Nakamoto released the first software and mined Bitcoin’s genesis block, launching the network. Nakamoto continued working with early contributors before gradually withdrawing from the project in 2010 and 2011.

A common mix-up is treating Satoshi Nakamoto as a confirmed real-world identity. That identity remains unknown, and the name may represent one person or several people. Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, and other early cryptographers contributed to Bitcoin’s development or were proposed as possible identities, but none is the accepted answer to this question.
