Who composed the theme music for the television series Twin Peaks?
Answer
Angelo Badalamenti
Answer
Angelo Badalamenti
Angelo Badalamenti composed the theme music for the television series Twin Peaks.
Badalamenti created the series’ distinctive musical identity in collaboration with co-creator David Lynch. Their work combined slow synthesizer textures, jazz-influenced arrangements, and romantic themes, giving the show an unusually atmospheric sound. The main theme became one of the most recognizable pieces associated with television drama in the early 1990s.
Badalamenti also composed much of the incidental score for Twin Peaks and its related film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Singer Julee Cruise performed several songs connected with the project, including “Falling,” which uses the series theme as its instrumental foundation. This sometimes leads to confusion between the composer and the vocalist.
Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks work became an important part of his career, but he also scored films such as Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive. His partnership with Lynch continued across several productions.
