Who composed the original music for Pokémon Red and Green?

Junichi Masuda composed the original music for Pokémon Red and Green.

Masuda wrote the music and sound programming for the first Pokémon role-playing games, Pokémon Red and Green, released in Japan for the Game Boy. The soundtrack includes the music for towns, routes, battle encounters, menus, and important story moments.

He was a founding member of Game Freak and became one of the franchise’s most influential creative figures. In addition to composing, Masuda worked on programming and later held major directing and producing roles on Pokémon games.

Satoshi Tajiri created the Pokémon concept and founded Game Freak, but he was not the composer of the original soundtrack. Shigeru Miyamoto is a Nintendo designer associated with franchises such as Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Go Ichinose became a major Pokémon composer in later generations.
