Who co-founded The Walt Disney Company with Walt Disney?

Roy O. Disney co-founded The Walt Disney Company with his brother, Walt Disney.

The partnership began in 1923, when the brothers established the Disney Brothers Studio in Los Angeles. Walt supplied much of the creative vision and animation leadership, while Roy handled finances, business operations, and production logistics. Their collaboration turned a small animation venture into one of the world’s best-known entertainment companies.

A common mix-up is confusing Roy O. Disney with Roy E. Disney. Roy E. was Roy O.’s son and later became an important Disney executive who helped revive the company’s animation division in the 1980s and 1990s. He was not Walt Disney’s original business partner.

The company was later renamed Walt Disney Productions and eventually The Walt Disney Company. Although Walt’s name became globally famous, Roy’s financial and managerial work was essential to keeping the enterprise operating during its early, difficult years.
