Rosie Rios chaired the United States Semiquincentennial Commission during the America250 planning period.
Rios became chair in July 2022 after being designated by President Joe Biden. Before leading the commission, she served as the 43rd Treasurer of the United States from 2009 to 2016, making her the first Latina to hold that office.
She succeeded Dan DiLella, who had served as the commission’s chair during its early organizational phase. Rios’s appointment came as America250 moved from establishing its structure toward building nationwide programs for 2026.
The chair of the commission should not be confused with the organization’s chief executive officer. Joe Daniels served as America250’s CEO before resigning in 2022, while Rios held the separate chair position.
