Which Wright brother served as the first president of the Wright Company?

The story behind the answer

Wilbur Wright served as the first president of the Wright Company.

The Wright Company was founded in 1909 to manufacture and sell airplanes and to manage the brothers’ aviation business. Wilbur became president, while Orville served as one of the company’s key technical and executive figures.

The company’s creation followed the brothers’ successful demonstrations and patent disputes. By 1909, aviation had moved beyond private experiments into military contracts, exhibitions, pilot training, and commercial manufacturing.

Wilbur did not lead the company for long. He died in 1912 after an illness caused by typhoid fever. Orville continued working with the company and became the surviving brother most associated with later Wright aviation affairs.
