Which wide receiver rejoined the Giants for the 2014 season?

Mario Manningham rejoined the New York Giants for the 2014 season. The wide receiver returned after spending two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, bringing back a player remembered for major catches during the Giants’ 2011 championship run.

The Giants selected Manningham in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 95th overall pick. He became a productive target for quarterback Eli Manning and recorded three consecutive 100-yard receiving games during the 2010 season, the first Giants receiver to accomplish that feat since Homer Jones in 1968.

Manningham’s signature moment came in Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots. With the Giants protecting a narrow lead late in the game, he caught a 38-yard sideline pass from Eli Manning that helped New York continue its decisive final drive. The Giants won 21–17.

After leaving for San Francisco in 2012, Manningham dealt with injuries before signing back with New York in March 2014. His return was therefore both a roster move and a reunion with the team and quarterback associated with his biggest NFL accomplishments.
