Which whale is famous for catching fish with bubble-net feeding?

The story behind the answer

The humpback whale is famous for catching fish with bubble-net feeding.

In this cooperative hunting technique, one or more humpback whales release bubbles below a school of fish. The bubbles form a rising circular or spiral curtain that concentrates the prey. The whales then swim upward through the middle with their mouths open, engulfing fish and seawater before filtering the water through their baleen plates.

Bubble-net feeding is especially associated with humpback populations in the North Pacific and North Atlantic, although not every humpback uses it. Groups may coordinate vocalizations, movements, and bubble placement. This behavior is a feeding strategy, not a permanent physical structure or a feature unique to all humpback whales.

Humpbacks are baleen whales, so they lack teeth as adults. They are also known for long songs, acrobatic breaches, and seasonal migrations between cold feeding grounds and warmer breeding areas.
