Which waterfall has the greatest uninterrupted height in the world?

The story behind the answer

Angel Falls has the greatest uninterrupted height of any waterfall in the world.

The waterfall drops 979 metres, including a 807-metre uninterrupted plunge, from the summit of Auyán-tepui in Venezuela’s Guiana Highlands. Water descends from the plateau into the Río Churún, a tributary of the Carrao River.

Its Indigenous name is Kerepakupai Merú. The English name comes from Jimmie Angel, an American aviator who flew over the falls in 1933. His aircraft famously landed on the summit in 1937, and the wreck remained there for decades.

Angel Falls is not the widest or the largest by water volume. Iguazu Falls and Victoria Falls are far broader systems, while Niagara Falls is especially famous for tourism and flow rather than extreme height.
