Which video-game console originally hosted Pokémon Stadium?
Answer
Nintendo 64
Answer
Nintendo 64
Pokémon Stadium originally launched on the Nintendo 64.
Released in Japan in 1999 and internationally in 2000, Pokémon Stadium was a 3D battle game developed by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. It allowed players to watch Pokémon battles rendered with polygonal graphics rather than the sprite-based presentation used by the original Game Boy games.
The game connected with Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak. Players could bring compatible Pokémon from their Game Boy cartridges into Stadium, use them in battles, and access a feature called the GB Tower to play the handheld games on the television through the console.
Despite its name, the original Japanese Pokémon Stadium had a smaller available roster than the international version. The overseas release included all 151 Generation I Pokémon, while the Japanese release's first version supported a more limited selection. Pokémon Stadium 2 later expanded the concept to include Pokémon from Generation II.
