Which U.S. city is home to the International Boxing Hall of Fame? Canastota, New York, is the home of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

The hall opened in 1989 in the small Madison County village, honoring champions, trainers, officials, journalists and other major contributors to boxing. Its location reflects the influence of local boxing promoter Ed Brophy, who helped establish the institution in his hometown.

Canastota is easy to confuse with famous boxing cities such as Las Vegas, New York City and Atlantic City, all of which have hosted major fights. They are not, however, the permanent home of the hall. The museum campus includes exhibits, championship memorabilia, photographs and artifacts covering professional, amateur and international boxing.

The International Boxing Hall of Fame holds annual induction ceremonies that bring together former champions and boxing figures. Its honorees are selected in separate categories, so induction is not limited only to world champions.
