Which U.S. battleship ran aground after fighting its way out of Pearl Harbor during the 1941 attack?

The story behind the answer

USS Nevada ran aground after fighting its way out of Pearl Harbor during the 1941 attack.

Nevada was the only American battleship to get underway during the main attack. It had been struck by bombs and a torpedo but managed to leave Battleship Row and move toward the harbor entrance.

American commanders feared that the damaged ship might sink in the channel and block the harbor. Nevada was therefore beached at Hospital Point, where it could be stabilized without obstructing the entrance. The ship survived and was later repaired.

Nevada returned to combat in World War II, including the Normandy landings and the invasion of Okinawa. Its escape attempt is a notable contrast with the battleships that remained immobilized or sank at their berths.
