Which two writers share screenplay credit with James Cameron on Avatar: Fire and Ash?

Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver share screenplay credit with James Cameron on Avatar: Fire and Ash. The film’s screenplay is credited to Cameron, Jaffa, and Silver, while several other writers contributed to the broader development of the Avatar sequels.

Jaffa and Silver were involved in shaping the later Avatar films after Cameron began expanding the original sequel plan. Their work on the series included story development and screenplay duties, helping build the larger narrative that continued beyond Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water. Cameron remained the director and a central creative force throughout the production.

A common source of confusion is the difference between screenplay credit and story credit. Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno were also involved in the writing process for the Avatar sequels, but their names do not replace Jaffa and Silver in the screenplay credit for Fire and Ash. David Koepp, Zak Penn, Laeta Kalogridis, and Jon Spaihts are associated with other projects or stages of Avatar development, not the credited pair asked for here.
