Which two musicians co-wrote Taylor Swift’s song “august”?

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff co-wrote Taylor Swift’s song “august.”

Antonoff was a major creative partner on Folklore. He had already worked with Swift on earlier projects, and their collaboration continued across songwriting, production, and recording for the 2020 album. “august” reflects the album’s more atmospheric sound, using soft-rock, guitar-pop, and dream-pop elements.

The writing credit is sometimes mixed up with other Folklore collaborators. Aaron Dessner co-wrote and produced many songs on the album, while Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon co-wrote “exile” and performed on it. Neither is credited as a writer of “august.”

Joe Alwyn also contributed to the production of the track under his pseudonym William Bowery on some Folklore material, but the song’s credited writers are Swift and Antonoff. The songwriting team helped shape the song’s fictional late-summer story and wistful perspective.
