Hasbro recalled Easy-Bake Ovens in 2007 after children suffered hand injuries from the oven opening.
The recalled Easy-Bake Ovens were electric toy ovens that used small mixes and a heating element to bake miniature foods. Hasbro announced the recall after reports that children, especially those under eight, could place their hands through the front opening and get them caught or burned.
The action affected about 985,000 ovens in the United States and Canada. Hasbro offered a retrofit safety grille and, in some cases, replacement arrangements. The recall followed an earlier, smaller action involving the product.
Easy-Bake Ovens have been sold in several designs over many decades, so not every model was covered by the 2007 recall. The key issue was the opening and the risk of finger entrapment and burns, not the baking mixes themselves.
