Which Tolkien language is spoken by many Elves of Middle-earth and is associated with Valinor?

The story behind the answer

Quenya is the Tolkien language associated with Valinor and spoken by many of the Elves connected with that realm.

Tolkien developed Quenya as one of the most complete languages in his legendarium. Its sound and structure were influenced especially by Finnish, and its history within the stories is tied to the High Elves, including the Noldor and Vanyar.

Quenya is often described as an elevated or classical language in Middle-earth. Sindarin, another major Elvish language, became more widely spoken in Beleriand and later in much of Middle-earth. The two languages are related within Tolkien’s fictional linguistic history but are not interchangeable.

Fans sometimes call Quenya simply “Elvish,” but Tolkien created several Elvish languages and dialects. Quenya’s ceremonial use and association with the ancient West distinguish it from the everyday language most commonly heard among many later Elves.
