The TLC album containing “No Scrubs” and released in 1999 is FanMail.
FanMail is TLC’s third studio album, released on February 23, 1999, by LaFace Records and Arista Records. The title refers to the group’s large volume of correspondence from fans, and its futuristic artwork and production reflected the era’s fascination with technology and digital communication.
“No Scrubs” served as the album’s lead single. Written by Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs, Kandi Burruss, and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, it became one of TLC’s signature songs. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes contributed to the rap version, while Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas sang lead vocals on a TLC single for the first time.
Readers sometimes confuse FanMail with CrazySexyCool, TLC’s 1994 breakthrough album, or 3D, the group’s 2002 final studio album. FanMail also produced “Unpretty,” another major single, and won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
