Which Titan’s theft of fire helped lead Zeus to create Pandora?

The story behind the answer

Prometheus’s theft of fire helped lead Zeus to create Pandora in the Greek myth.

Prometheus was a Titan who championed humanity. In the best-known version, he stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans, allowing them to cook, work metal, and develop civilization. Zeus responded by arranging a punishment for both Prometheus and humankind.

For Prometheus, the punishment involved being bound while an eagle repeatedly consumed his liver, which regenerated. For humanity, Zeus sent Pandora, whose arrival was associated with the release of suffering from the sealed vessel.

The two myths are closely linked in Hesiod’s poems, though later authors added details and changed the emphasis. Pandora’s story is therefore part of a larger conflict about divine power, human knowledge, and consequences.
