Which Titan was the father of the goddess Hecate?

The Titan who was the father of the goddess Hecate was Perses. He was the son of the Titan Crius and the sea-goddess Eurybia, making him a member of the second generation of Titans.

Perses married Asteria, a daughter of the Titans Coeus and Phoebe. Their daughter Hecate became a powerful goddess associated with magic, witchcraft, crossroads, night, and later the moon and the underworld. Hesiod’s Theogony gives Hecate an unusually honored status, saying Zeus respected her and allowed her influence over several realms.

Perses himself has little independent mythology and is chiefly remembered through this family connection. He is easy to confuse with Pallas and Astraeus, his brothers, or with another mythological Perses who was a son of the sun-god Helios. Some later or less common traditions assign Hecate a different father, including Zeus, but the standard Titan genealogy used in general Greek mythology identifies her father as Perses and her mother as Asteria.
