Prometheus was Pandora’s husband’s brother and the Titan who brought fire to humans.
Prometheus and Epimetheus were brothers in Greek mythology. Prometheus was known for foresight and for siding with humanity, while Epimetheus was associated with acting after events had happened. Prometheus’s theft of fire angered Zeus, who then arranged Pandora’s creation as a punishment connected with humanity.
In Hesiod’s account, Zeus concealed fire from humans after a conflict involving Prometheus. Prometheus later stole fire and returned it to humanity, leading Zeus to devise a further punishment. Pandora was sent to Epimetheus, who accepted her despite Prometheus’s warning.
Different ancient writers tell the fire story with varying details, and later literature greatly expanded Prometheus’s role. The link between Prometheus, Epimetheus, Pandora, and Zeus is especially prominent in Hesiod’s Works and Days.
