Pandora's story is connected to Prometheus because he stole fire for humanity.
Prometheus is a Titan in Greek mythology who repeatedly acts as a benefactor of humans. In Hesiod's stories, he deceives Zeus during a sacrificial division and later takes fire from the gods, giving it to mortals. Zeus then uses Pandora's creation as part of his punishment of humanity.
The myth connects fire with technology, sacrifice, and the boundary between gods and humans. Prometheus's punishment is also famous: Zeus has him bound while an eagle repeatedly eats his liver, which regenerates. Aeschylus later made Prometheus the central figure of the tragedy Prometheus Bound, though the play's authorship and completion are debated. Pandora and Prometheus therefore belong to the same chain of myths about divine power and human progress.
