Which Titan is Pandora’s story connected to after he gave fire to humanity?

The story behind the answer

Pandora’s story is connected to Prometheus, the Titan who gave fire to humanity.

In Hesiod’s mythic sequence, Prometheus tricks Zeus during a sacrifice and later steals fire for humans. Zeus responds by ordering the creation of Pandora as part of humanity’s punishment. Pandora’s arrival and the opening of her vessel therefore belong to the same chain of events as the theft of fire.

Prometheus is also Pandora’s brother-in-law because Pandora marries his brother Epimetheus. The contrast between the brothers is deliberate in the traditional story: Prometheus is associated with forethought, while Epimetheus is associated with hindsight and accepts Pandora despite the warning.

Other ancient authors developed different versions of Prometheus’s relationship with humanity. The Pandora episode is especially important in Hesiod, where it helps explain why human life includes labor, disease, and other hardships.
