Which three markets received Pokémon GO’s official launch on July 6, 2016?

The story behind the answer

Australia, New Zealand, and the United States received Pokémon GO’s official launch on July 6, 2016.

Developed by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Pokémon GO uses location-based technology and augmented reality to place Pokémon in real-world surroundings. Players explore outdoors, visit PokéStops, and battle or capture Pokémon.

The launch was staged regionally rather than worldwide at once. Germany followed on July 13, the United Kingdom on July 14, and Japan on July 22. Server strain contributed to pauses and delays as demand surged.

The mobile game became a global cultural event in 2016. Its release also brought Pokémon gameplay to a much broader audience, including people who had never played the handheld role-playing games.
