Which three governments originally issued the Potsdam Declaration in 1945?

The story behind the answer

The United States, United Kingdom, and China originally issued the Potsdam Declaration in 1945.

The declaration was published on July 26 during the Potsdam Conference. Harry S. Truman represented the United States, Winston Churchill represented the United Kingdom, and Chiang Kai-shek represented China in the proclamation.

The document called for Japan to surrender its armed forces and described the consequences of continued resistance. It also stated that Japan’s sovereignty would be limited to the main islands and other territory determined by the Allied powers.

The Soviet Union did not sign the original proclamation because it was still neutral in the war against Japan when the declaration was issued. The Soviet Union agreed to adhere to it on August 8, shortly before declaring war on Japan.
