The network premiered the series in November 2004 and continued airing it through the show’s eight-season run. Fox scheduled House as a major scripted drama, helping it become one of the most widely watched medical series of the 2000s and early 2010s.
The program was produced by Heel and Toe Films, Shore Z Productions, and Bad Hat Harry Productions in association with Universal Television. Its success helped establish a strong audience for a medical mystery format built around a diagnostician rather than a conventional emergency-room ensemble.
International viewers may associate the program with different broadcasters because local networks acquired its distribution in other countries. Those later broadcasters do not change the original American network. Fox is also distinct from Fox News and from the former twentieth-century film studio branding; the television series debuted on the Fox broadcast network.
