Which team drafted Derrick Favors 3rd overall in 2010?
Answer
New Jersey Nets
Answer
New Jersey Nets
The New Jersey Nets drafted Derrick Favors third overall in the 2010 NBA draft. The selection came after John Wall went first to Washington and Evan Turner went second to Philadelphia.
Favors entered the draft after one season at Georgia Tech, where he was recognized as one of the country’s top young frontcourt players. At 6 feet 9 inches, he played both power forward and center and was selected to strengthen a Nets team that had finished the previous season with the NBA’s worst record.
The Nets’ choice began a professional career that later included a major trade. In February 2011, New Jersey sent Favors to the Utah Jazz in the deal that brought Deron Williams to the Nets. Favors ultimately spent most of his career in Utah. A common mix-up is confusing the team that drafted him with the Jazz, where he became much better known to many NBA fans.
