Real Madrid beat Atlético Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final.

The all-Madrid final took place on 24 May 2014 at Lisbon’s Estádio da Luz. Atlético led for most of regulation time after Diego Godín scored in the 36th minute, but Sergio Ramos equalized with a stoppage-time header in the third minute of added time.

Real Madrid then dominated extra time. Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo scored to complete a 4–1 victory, giving Madrid their long-awaited tenth European Cup, known as La Décima. Ronaldo’s penalty was the final goal and brought his tournament total to a record 17 for that campaign.

The fixture is sometimes confused with the 2016 Champions League final, which also featured Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. That later final ended 1–1 after extra time, with Real Madrid winning on penalties. In 2014, however, Madrid won decisively in extra time.
