Which Taylor Swift album features the song “august”?

Taylor Swift’s “august” appears on the album Folklore.

Folklore is Swift’s eighth studio album, released in 2020. Unlike several of her earlier pop-focused projects, it emphasizes imagined characters, atmospheric production, and interconnected stories. “august” is one of the album’s fictional narrative songs rather than a direct account of Swift’s personal life.

The song belongs to a three-song storyline involving James, Betty, and the unnamed girl who narrates “august.” The other two songs are “cardigan” and “betty,” each presenting a different viewpoint on the relationship. This connection is why listeners often discuss the three tracks together.

Folklore was released during the COVID-19 pandemic and became one of Swift’s most critically acclaimed albums. It won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, making Swift the first woman to win that category three times at the time.
