Which studio distributes Project Hail Mary in the United States and Canada?

Amazon MGM Studios distributes Project Hail Mary in the United States and Canada.

The film comes from Amazon MGM Studios, the studio formed after Amazon acquired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 2022. MGM’s historic identity remains visible in the company’s branding and library, while Amazon provides the broader corporate and streaming framework behind the modern studio operation.

Project Hail Mary received a theatrical release in North America on March 20, 2026. Amazon MGM handled distribution in the United States and Canada, while Sony Pictures Releasing International distributed the film in many international markets. That regional split can cause confusion when different territories list different distributors.

Amazon MGM’s involvement also connects the theatrical movie to Prime Video, though theatrical distribution and later streaming availability are separate stages of a film’s release. Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures are major competing distributors, but they did not distribute this title in the specified North American territories.
