Which strait separates Denmark's islands of Zealand and Funen?

The story behind the answer

The strait separating Denmark’s islands of Zealand and Funen is the Great Belt.

The Great Belt is the largest and most important of the three Danish Straits, linking the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat and the Atlantic Ocean. It is roughly 60 kilometres long and divides Denmark’s main eastern island, Zealand, from Funen to the west.

The other choices are nearby but different waterways. The Øresund separates Zealand from Sweden, while the Little Belt separates Funen from the Jutland peninsula. The Great Belt also contains the islands of Samsø and Langeland and is divided near Sprogø into eastern and western channels.

The Great Belt’s modern importance is especially visible in the Great Belt Fixed Link. Opened in stages in 1997 and 1998, its bridge and tunnel connection replaced the principal ferry route between Zealand and Funen.
