Which Stevie Wonder song features the recurring refrain “You are the sunshine of my life”?

“You Are the Sunshine of My Life” features the recurring refrain “You are the sunshine of my life.”

Stevie Wonder wrote and recorded the song for his 1972 album Talking Book. It was released as a single in 1973 and became one of his most successful romantic songs. The recording opens with vocals by Jim Gilstrap and Lani Groves before Wonder enters, a detail that can surprise listeners who assume he sings the opening lines.

The single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the adult contemporary chart. It earned Wonder a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

The song is sometimes grouped with Wonder’s earlier romantic standards such as “My Cherie Amour” and “For Once in My Life,” but its distinctive title and refrain make it a separate composition. Talking Book also contains “Superstition,” giving the album both a romantic ballad and a major funk hit.
