Answer
Songs in the Key of Life
Stevie Wonder’s “Songs in the Key of Life” won the 1977 Grammy for Album of the Year.
Released in 1976, the album was Wonder’s eighteenth studio album and one of the most ambitious projects of his career. It was issued as a double album with an additional four-song extended-play record. The music explores love, family, social issues, spirituality, and everyday life.
The album produced major songs including “Sir Duke,” “I Wish,” and “Isn’t She Lovely.” Its rich arrangements combine soul, funk, jazz, pop, and electronic textures. “Isn’t She Lovely” celebrates the birth of Wonder’s daughter Aisha, whose voice appears in the recording.
Wonder had already won Album of the Year for “Innervisions” and “Fulfillingness’ First Finale.” Winning again for “Songs in the Key of Life” completed a remarkable run of three consecutive victories from 1974 through 1977 ceremonies.
