Which spacecraft carried the first humans to land on the Moon?
Answer
Apollo 11
Answer
Apollo 11
Apollo 11 carried the first humans to land on the Moon.
NASA’s Apollo 11 mission launched from Florida on 16 July 1969. Lunar Module pilot Buzz Aldrin and mission commander Neil Armstrong landed the Eagle module in the Sea of Tranquility on 20 July, while Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit in the command module Columbia.
Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface first, followed by Aldrin. The astronauts spent about 21 hours and 36 minutes on the Moon and collected lunar rocks and soil before returning safely to Earth on 24 July 1969.
Apollo 8 had already carried humans around the Moon in 1968, but it did not land. Apollo 12 made the second crewed lunar landing later in 1969. Apollo 13 never landed because an onboard oxygen-tank explosion forced the crew to abort its landing attempt.
