Which space shuttle carried the first married couple into space?

The Space Shuttle Endeavour carried the first married couple into space together during STS-47. Mark C. Lee and Jan Davis flew aboard Endeavour in September 1992, becoming the first husband and wife to share a space mission.

STS-47 was Endeavour’s second flight and NASA’s 50th shuttle mission. The seven-person crew conducted Spacelab-J, a joint American-Japanese laboratory mission focused on life sciences and materials research. The flight also carried Mamoru Mohri, the first Japanese astronaut to fly aboard a space shuttle, and Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space.

NASA had traditionally avoided assigning married couples to the same mission, partly because of concerns about personal and professional complications.
