Kyochon was the South Korean fried chicken chain founded by Kwon Won Kang in 1991.
Kyochon F&B Co., Ltd. began in 1991 and grew into one of South Korea’s largest fried chicken restaurant chains. Its founder, Kwon Won Kang, established the business during the expansion of Korea’s fried chicken industry, when specialized chicken franchises were becoming increasingly popular.
The name is easy to confuse with other well-known Korean chains. Pelicana is another major South Korean fried chicken brand, while Bonchon was founded later, in 2002, by Jinduk Seo. Mom’s Touch is also a South Korean fast-food chain, but it is not the company identified by the founder and date in this question.
Kyochon later expanded outside South Korea, including into the United States and several Asian markets. In 2015, it opened what was then described as its largest outlet in the world at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. That international growth came after the chain had established its reputation in Korea.
