Which South American country is home to Perito Moreno Glacier?

The story behind the answer

Perito Moreno Glacier is in Argentina. It lies in Los Glaciares National Park in Santa Cruz Province, Patagonia, and is one of the country’s best-known natural landmarks.

The glacier descends from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Lago Argentino. Its front is notable for advancing across the lake at times, forming a natural ice dam between sections of the water. Pressure can eventually cause spectacular ruptures as the ice barrier collapses.

Perito Moreno is often confused with Chilean glaciers because Patagonia spans both countries. However, this glacier and Los Glaciares National Park are on the Argentine side of the Andes. The park was established in 1937 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
