“Elizabeth Taylor” reached the Billboard Hot 100 top three without reaching number one.
The song is one of three official singles from Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl. Unlike “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite,” which both topped the Billboard Hot 100, “Elizabeth Taylor” peaked within the top three.
Its title refers to the celebrated British-American actress Elizabeth Taylor, whose public image combined film stardom, glamour, romance, and tabloid fascination. The song uses that name as part of the album’s broader show-business imagery.
The track is the second song on the standard album. It should not be confused with “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead single, or with the title track, which appears at number 12 and features Sabrina Carpenter.
