Meta is the social media company headquartered at 1 Hacker Way in Menlo Park.
Meta Platforms, Inc., commonly branded simply as Meta, operates Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Threads. Its headquarters complex is in Menlo Park, California, at the address commonly identified as 1 Hacker Way. The site became closely associated with Facebook before the company changed its corporate name.
The company was founded in 2004 as TheFacebook by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, Andrew McCollum and Chris Hughes. It became Facebook, Inc. in 2005, then rebranded as Meta Platforms in 2021. That change reflected a strategic push toward virtual and augmented reality, although its social platforms remain central to the business.
The address can cause confusion because Meta has offices and regional headquarters around the world. It is also easy to answer “Facebook” when thinking of the campus’s history. For this question, however, the current company name is Meta, while Facebook is one of its flagship products.
