Which snooker player won the 2022 World Championship, claiming his seventh world title?
Answer
Ronnie O’Sullivan
Answer
Ronnie O’Sullivan
Ronnie O’Sullivan won the 2022 World Snooker Championship, claiming his seventh world title.
O’Sullivan defeated Judd Trump 18–13 in the final at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre. The victory equalled Stephen Hendry’s modern-era record of seven World Championship titles and came 20 years after O’Sullivan won the title for the first time.
At 46, O’Sullivan became the oldest world champion in snooker history, surpassing the previous record held by Ray Reardon. His 2022 campaign combined rapid scoring with strong tactical play, especially during the final’s later sessions.
The title was O’Sullivan’s seventh, not his eighth. He had previously won in 2001, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2020.
