Which singer released the 1985 album Rapture, featuring “Sweet Love”? Anita Baker released it, with the album arriving in 1986 after being recorded in 1985.

Rapture was Baker’s second studio album and her breakthrough for Elektra Records. Its opening track, “Sweet Love,” became her first major pop hit, reaching No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning the 1987 Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.

The album also included “Caught Up in the Rapture,” “No One in the World,” and “Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year).” It reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and No. 11 on the Billboard 200.

A common mix-up is the date: Rapture was recorded in 1985 but released on March 20, 1986. It is also sometimes confused with Baker’s 1983 debut, The Songstress, which preceded her Elektra breakthrough.
