Jay-Z performed with Beyoncé at the 2014 Grammy Awards on “Drunk in Love.”
“Drunk in Love” is a duet by Beyoncé and Jay-Z from Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled album. The studio version combines a slow, bass-heavy R&B production with lyrics about intense romantic attraction. Jay-Z contributes a rap verse, making the collaboration part of the couple’s continuing musical partnership.
Their Grammy performance opened the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2014. Beyoncé began the performance seated in a chair before joining Jay-Z, and the staging emphasized the song’s sensual, dramatic tone. The appearance drew considerable attention because it followed the surprise release of Beyoncé only weeks earlier.
The song won two Grammy Awards at the 2015 ceremony: Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song. It is distinct from “Crazy in Love,” their earlier 2003 collaboration, which also became a major Beyoncé solo hit and featured Jay-Z as a guest rapper.
