Dua Lipa co-chaired the 2023 Met Gala with Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, and Roger Federer.
The gala took place on May 1, 2023, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Its exhibition honored Karl Lagerfeld, the influential German designer who led Chanel for decades and also worked with Fendi and his own label.
Lipa wore a white Chanel bridal-style gown based on a 1992 design by Lagerfeld. Her choice connected her appearance directly to the designer being celebrated, rather than simply referencing Chanel’s broader visual identity.
The other co-chairs represented film, television, fashion, and sport: Penélope Cruz was an actor, Michaela Coel was an actor and writer, and Roger Federer was a retired Swiss tennis champion. The event’s dress code was “in honor of Karl,” which is separate from the exhibition’s title.
