Which Silicon Valley city is home to Intel's headquarters?

The story behind the answer

Santa Clara is the Silicon Valley city where Intel is headquartered.

Intel Corporation’s headquarters are in Santa Clara, California, a city at the heart of Silicon Valley. Intel designs and manufactures computing products, including central processing units, graphics processors, chipsets and networking hardware. Its Santa Clara base is one of the company’s most recognizable corporate locations.

Intel was founded in 1968 by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, with venture capitalist Arthur Rock helping finance the new company. Both Noyce and Moore had previously worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, another influential Silicon Valley company. Intel initially focused heavily on memory chips before microprocessors became its defining business.

Intel’s history is often mixed up with nearby cities because the region contains headquarters for many famous technology companies. AMD, a major Intel rival, is also associated with Santa Clara, while Google’s Googleplex is in Mountain View and Meta’s headquarters are in Menlo Park. The city answer is therefore specifically Santa Clara, not Silicon Valley as a whole.
